Bird Guide for Florida Beaches

What makes a bird different than other animals? The first answer that pops into most peoples’ minds is that birds fly. But, not all birds fly. So, what characteristics do ALL birds share?

  • They are warm-blooded. That means birds have a near constant internal body temperature no matter what the temperature of the air is.
  • They lay eggs.
  • They are vertebrates. That means they have bones.
  • They have feathers.
  • They have wings.
